In 2018 The Beck family bought a home in the perfect location. It was close to Mary Beck’s work, their church and the kids’ school. As an added bonus it is on one of their favorite streets in Greenville. The lot was everything they could want, but the home was damaged due to flooding. Bring on the bulldozers! They decided to tear down the existing home and build a custom home with all the bells and whistles. Most people would be a little nervous to build a home from the ground up, but not the Becks. This was their third home they had built.
While visiting Charleston they found the home they wanted to recreate in Greenville. So, they got the name of the architect and started forming their team that would create their forever home. The builder was Jeff Beck, architect Bill Huey, interior designer Caroline Brackett, and art consultant Everett Waldrop. The team was formed and it was time to get to work.
The building process began in September 2019 and the Becks moved in in July 2020. With Jeff being the homeowner and the builder it came with positives and negatives.
“This was his third build (all ours), so experience was there, and attention to detail when you are building it for yourself is foremost. Which can also be your worst enemy..does the ‘perfect’ house even exist? I would say we got pretty close for our family,” says Mary.
For anyone that knows the Beck family they know they are beautiful on the inside and out. Their home is no exception. Caroline Brackett and Mary Beck made sure the interiors were to the nines. From the gorgeous art to high end fabrics and wallpapers every corner was touched. Everett Waldrop made sure all the artwork complimented the Beck’s style and Caroline’s jaw dropping designs. Jeff and Bill’s work on the exterior is something that turns heads every time someone comes down their street.
